“As soon as Sunday School ends, we start with our collection of goods. We make announcements after service that we are looking for donated items,” said Phyllis Robinson, a volunteer and organizer of the event. “We have really been blessed with having a lot of members in this community donate goods. We have been filling our classrooms at the church with all of the items.”

She explained that church has been collecting the donated items since June.

From 8 a.m. through 2 p.m., the sale has a fundraising goal between $2,000 to $3,000, which will go to the church’s outreach programs.

“We have a great response to this sale, because it ties into Cranbury Day. We fill our hall in the church with all of the goods that we have in our various classrooms,” Robinson said. “We just get a really good turn out. This is really a church effort. We have a lot of people willing to step up at the church.”

To get the rummage sale ready for next month a committee was created which included Robinson, Laura Labassi, Mark Thorne and Terry Bennett.

“We as a committee have been working more hours as we get closer to the sale. We are organizing items by type,” she said. “For example we have lots of books, CDs, DVDs, glassware and kitchens items. We take gently used and new items.”

Other items are children’s toys and games, small furniture, tools, linens and household items, according to church officials.

“To be part of something where you can give back is just great. People in the community are very blessed with what we have,” Robinson said. “It is just nice to be able to share that with people who are in need.”
