EAST BRUNSWICK–The Township Council introduced an ordinance amending the township code to enforce a no stopping or standing policy for parking on Flagler Street.

Drivers are not allowed to stop or stand their vehicles from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on school days on the south side of Flagler Street. More specifically, the policy is for the southerly curb line of Flagler Street beginning from a point 243 feet east of Old Bridge Turnpike, according to the council agenda. The location is near Chittick Elementary School.

Business Administrator Joseph Criscuolo said Chief of Police Frank LoSacco met with the Board of Education, Chittick Elementary School Principal Megan Manetta and school security and came to a resolution regarding the new vehicle restrictions.

The council introduced the ordinance on Aug. 26 during the council meeting. The second and final reading for the ordinance is scheduled for Sept. 9.
