Edison police lodge charges in connection with car burglaries

EDISON – Three individuals have been charged in connection with a series of car burglaries that occurred at several homes along Agatha Drive, according to police.

An 18-year-old male from Plainfield and two 17-year-old accomplices, one from Plainfield and one from Edison, face burglary and theft charges, police said.

Police officers Michael Geist and Jeffrey Hozeny apprehended the three individuals at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 in the vicinity of Agatha Drive after police received complaints from neighborhood residents about cash, credit cards, debit cards and other personal belongings being stolen from their parked vehicles, police said.

The three suspects were allegedly found to be in possession of some stolen items and cash, police said. Detectives also obtained security video from a nearby Lordina Drive home that reportedly shows the same individuals unsuccessfully attempting to gain access to a parked Lexus, police said.
