Jamesburg establishes ‘green’ recognition program

JAMESBURG–Seeking to promote more environmentally-friendly practices, the Borough Council approved a resolution establishing the Municipal Green Business Recognition Program.

Borough Administrator Scott Frueh said the program is designed to recognize businesses in the borough for going green.

“It was created by Sustainable Jersey and will be used to receive points for becoming a certified municipality. Our program is just getting started so it is a work in progress,” Frueh said.

The council approved the resolution to establish on Aug. 21.

Frueh said there will be a board of directors, but that has not been addressed yet.

If a business in the borough would like to join, they can sign up at New Jersey Sustainable Business Registry Program’s webpage.

Frueh said there is no cost to join the program.

“We believe that businesses should enroll to help make the borough more green,” Frueh said.
