CentraState Healthcare Foundation, Freehold Township, honored members of
the Circle of Friends Society at a reception held at CentraState Medical Center on Aug. 13.
The Circle of Friends Society is a recognition and tribute to the importance of
philanthropy and community involvement in CentraState’s quest for continuous improvement of patient care. The society recognizes the generosity of individuals, community businesses, corporations, community service organizations and many of the municipalities served by CentraState.
A permanent display in the main lobby of the medical center honors individuals and organizations whose philanthropic support over the years has totaled $10,000 or more. It is an ever-changing living tribute as each year new names are added and current society members move up in category as their generosity grows, according to a press release.
The name of each society member is inscribed in honor of their lifetime support of
CentraState. Their collective donations exceed $43 million and a number of donations came through bequests.
These generous donors provided and, in most cases, continue to provide significant support for the foundation’s mission of providing the highest quality and compassionate healthcare to the communities served by CentraState, according to the press release.
Eric Mayer will speak at The Hebrew Academy, Marlboro, at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 13. According to a press release, Mayer, his sister and brother lived through the Nazi terror of Kristallnacht in Worms, Germany, as children. They were later sent to France where they were hidden from the German occupying forces for the remainder of World War II. Mayer joined the French Resistance as a courier and continued to fight Nazi oppression from afar. According to the press release, he hopes his story teaches people “that you have to take a stand.” The program is free and open to the community.
