FREEHOLD – The purchase of security equipment has been approved by the Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education to help ensure the safety of students and staff members in the district’s facilities.
During a recent meeting, board members approved a contract for a $40,717 purchase with CM3 Building Solutions.
A total of $20,558 will be used for the purchase and delivery of five new cameras and an access control security system at the Park Avenue Complex, which houses the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School.
The remaining $20,159 will be used for an access control security system at the Freehold Learning Center elementary school, which is located on Dutch Lane Road, according to a resolution.
Board members said an access control security system will limit who will be able to enter the district’s facilities. The funds for the equipment will come from the district’s capital reserve account.
In other business, board members appropriated $208,526 remaining from a $308,526 extraordinary aid award the school district received from the state.
District administrators said $90,000 will be dedicated toward purchased professional educational services in the multiply disabled account; $36,000 will be dedicated toward purchased professional educational services in the resource room account; $30,000 will be dedicated toward other salaries for instruction in the preschool handicapped account; $27,000 will be dedicated toward other salaries for instruction in the resources room account; and $25,526 will be dedicated toward purchased professional educational services in the preschool handicapped account.
And, board members approved a cleaning contract with AllRisk Inc. for $7,050 for cleaning services at the Freehold Learning Center.
The cleaning services are related to the repair and renovation of duct work that took place at the school. The funds will come from the district’s capital reserve.
