Hillsborough Dukes youth football teams earn impressive victories

Here is a summary of how the Hillsborough Dukes football teams fared this past week.
12U Football 

The Hillsborough Dukes’ 12U team beat the Edison Jets, 33-6, on Sept. 15 in Edison.

Offensively for the Dukes, Cole Hayden had a 60-yard TD run to tie the game with a point after by Logan McDermid, making the score 7-6.
William “Bubba” Hayes ran for a two-yard TD run and led the team defensively all game.
Hillsborough’s QB, Quinn Hayden, ran and managed the offense exceptionally with help from his brother, Cole Hayden, for an additional two touchdowns.
Logan McDermid had a 106 yard interception return for a TD. Other outstanding performances by Joshua D’Ambrosio, Trip Freitag and leading tackler Brenden Barker.
The Dukes’ 12U team remained undefeated by improving to 3-0.
Hillsborough will play Franklin at Franklin on Sept. 22.
8U Football

The Hillsborough Dukes’ 8U team traveled on Sept. 15 to play the Staten Island Lions. The Dukes dominated with a 25-0 victory.

The first half saw Brayden Negvesky, Jake Jones and Mason Smith score touchdowns. Defensively, John Billings, Jake Jones, Mason Smith, Gavin Mankowski, Jaxxon Lugo and Addysin Pertone made key tackles. The defense stopped the Lions from scoring any points and the Dukes had an 18-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was featured by Paul Antonelli who recovered a fumble, which earned him the coaches nomination as the MVP of the game. John Billings ran for a touchdown. Michael Biviano and Matthew Fedora played solid at the center position. Brayden Negvesky, Matthew Gubitosa and Addysin Petrone played well at quarterback.

Next week the 8U team also travels to Somerset to play Franklin.  

14U Football
The 14U Dukes team dominated the South River Knights with an impressive 30-0 victory in South River on Sept. 15.
