Hopewell Valley Soccer Association opens 2019 season

The Hopewell Valley Soccer Association opened its 2019 season on Sept. 7. Below are recaps from the first two weekends of games in the Division 3 Boys’ section of the HVSA.

Sept. 7, 2019
Capital Health began its 2019 season on a beautiful Saturday morning with a solid 7-1 victory over Ewing-Blue. Starting the scoring was Jason Laliwala on a great move to the goal, followed by two consecutive and quick goals by Darius Roman. Additional players scoring their first goals of the year were Jason Donis-Yuman, Luke Hemmer, Robert Taylor and Graham Carter, many on assists from Aaron Nulman. The defense held the opponent throughout the game, with consistency from Ben Lang and Adam Rise, and solid midfield play by Gavin Catlett and Jackson Ruf.
Sept. 8, 2019
With a dominant performance at both ends of the field, Capital Health grabbed its second victory of the season by beating Ewing-Green 6-0. Leading the scoring was Darius Roman with three goals, followed by the second goals of the season by Robert Taylor, Graham Carter and Luke Hemmer. Midfield play was solid and consistent by Gavin Catlett, Jackson Ruf, Ben Lang, Jack Elliott and Jason Laliwala. The defense was anchored by Aaron Nulman, Jason Donis-Yuman and Adam Rise.
Sept. 14, 2019
In a competitive game at Tank Field in Ewing, Capital Health prevailed over Ewing-Red by a score of 5-1. Leading the scoring with two goals was Ben Lang, with additional goals scored by Aaron Nulman, Darius Roman and Luke Hemmer. The defensive effort was led by goalie Adam Rise, who allowed just one goal for the entire game, along with consistent play from Jason Donis-Yuman and Gavin Catlett.
Sept. 15, 2019
On Sunday, Capital Health and Dick’s Sporting Goods battled to a 2-2 tie in a competitive game. For Capital Health, goals were scored by Graham Carter and Luke Hemmer. Capital Health received solid midfield and defensive play from Jeff Blake, Jackson Ruf, Jack Elliott and Jason Laliwala. For Dick’s Sporting Goods, Josh Kohlhepp provided the tying goal late in the second half.
