Learn how to attract birds to the backyard during Garden Club of Metuchen’s Oct. 7 meeting

“The Joy of Backyard Bird Feeding” is the topic of the Garden Club of Metuchen’s Oct. 7 meeting.

The program will familiarize participants with how to use bird food, bird feeders, water and shelter to attract the widest variety of birds; and will give tips on making backyards bird-friendly.

The presenter, Pete Axelrod, is an outreach coordinator for Wild Birds Unlimited in Scotch Plains. He is a former Metuchen resident and member of the Metuchen High School Class of 1973.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Fryer Hall, 17 Oak Ave., Metuchen. Refreshments will be served at 6:45 p.m.
