OLD BRIDGE – Old Bridge Township’s Parks and Recreation Department recently received a $20,000 community grant from Columbia Bank to benefit several department programs.
In partnership with the Special Projects for Special Children Foundation, Camp ROBIN received $7,000 for technology upgrades, including installation of Wi-Fi throughout the building, and the purchase of iPads.
Silver Linings at Old Bridge, in partnership with the Old Bridge Education Foundation, received $10,500 for the purchase of MySeniorCenter, data recording software that will enable the center to keep more accurate records of its participants for grant reporting and safety purposes.
Silver Linings also received $2,500 toward the ongoing operation of an intergenerational vegetable garden. The Giving Garden was initially set up by the Recreation Department’s full-day summer campers, overseen by Manager Gregg Grieve. It will be maintained by Silver Linings members, under the supervision of Manager Anahita Feltz. All vegetables harvested in the garden will be donated to the Old Bridge Food Bank and its clients.
“We are grateful to Columbia Bank for their ongoing generosity which allows us to fund these important initiatives that will benefit so many in our community,” Mayor Owen Henry said in a prepared statement.
