Horticulturist to discuss fall planting during Option Green program at East Brunswick Library

Harry Brennan, left, co-coordinator of the Rows for the Hungry Experimental Garden at the EARTH Center at Davidson's Mill Pond Park in South Brunswick, helps Vihan Ramesh of Monroe plant broccoli during the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County's Garden and Music Festival on Aug. 24.

Horticulturist Steven Kristoph will discuss why fall is for planting in the next Option Green program at the East Brunswick Library at 7 p.m. on Oct. 2.

Kristoph will discuss proper planting techniques for both container-grown and balled and burlap plants, and will highlight many landscape plants that add to the garden’s fall interest. Small plants will be available for purchase.

He owns Steven Kristoph Nursery in Millstone, where he grows many types of ornamental trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials.

The program is free and open to the public. Children over 10 may attend.

The Option Green lecture series is presented by the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission in partnership with the East Brunswick Public Library.  For more information, visit friendsebec.com.
