Middlesex County Game of the Week – South Brunswick dominates rival East Brunswick

In this week’s Middlesex County “Game of the Week” East Brunswick High School visited South Brunswick High School for a cross town matchup.

The South Brunswick Vikings secured bragging rights with a 45-7 victory over East Brunswick on Sept. 27.

South Brunswick gained control of the game early when the team scored first with a rushing touchdown and 7:15 left in the first quarter.

South Brunswick senior quarterback Gage Katzenell-hall threw two touchdowns in the victory. Both touchdowns were caught junior wide receiver Justin Lawson.

Senior Ezequiel Johnson added to the team’s score with two rushing touchdowns.

The victory improved the Vikings record to 3-1 on the season. South Brunswick heads back on the road next week to face Old Bridge High School on Oct. 4. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

On the other side of the field East Brunswick struggled to score offensively. The team’s lone score of the game came in the second quarter off of a 8-yard rushing touchdown from senior quarterback Zach Zebro.

With this loss, the Bears drop to 1-2 this season. The team’s next game is a home matchup against Montgomery High School on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
