Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce will hold Matawan Day and fall festival, on Oct. 5

The Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and the Matawan Recreation Department will hold “Matawan Day” and the “Fall Festival” at 12-5 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Matawan Day and Fall Festival is an annual event in which thousands of people make their way down Main Street in Matawan to visit over 150 booths and tables of crafters/artisans, retailers, food vendors, local restaurants, professionals and non-profit organizations who are ready to showcase their products and services.

Live Bands will be performing from 12-5 p.m. There will be an after-hours party at Maloney’s on their patio and lawn with music from 5-7:30 p.m., directly following the festival. The rain date for the event/festival is Oct. 6.

Local Karate and yoga studios will give live demonstrations. A schedule of local dance, music and theatre companies will also be present to showcase their talent and skills.

New additions to Matawan Day this year will include:

  • The Matawan Day Roving Reporter. Watch for the Roving Reporter to come up to vendor booths and sponsors to promote their products as well as come up to random visitors to ask about their time at Matawan Day and what they are most enjoying about it.
  • Milestone Photo Booths, courtesy of Garden State Smiles will be available to all who want to capture a moment or two at Matawan Day.
  • The Geekery hosts a pumpkin patch where kids can decorate a pumpkin. A $2 donation will be given to the Matawan Regional High School Senior Scholarship fund.
  • Maloney’s Slider Eating Contest at 2:30 p.m. and DiBari’s Main Street Pizza Pasta Eating Contest at 3:30 p.m. will be held on Main Street. Pre-registration required at their respective locations and entrants must be 18 years or older. Each winner will receive a trophy and a restaurant gift certificate.
