Rumson-Fair Haven's Regional High School's football team enters onto the field during the final round of the NJSIAA Bowl Championship of the Group 3 South tournament that took place at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford on Dec 1. The Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs held off the Woodrow Wilson Tigers during the matchup 26-18.

In overtime at Manalapan High School, Rumson-Fair Haven High School quarterback Collin Coles hit Luke Devlin for a touchdown. With that pass, the Bulldogs walked off with a 23-20 football victory on Oct. 4.

Manalapan got the ball first in overtime but settled for a field goal. That left the door open for Coles and Devlin to win it for Rumson-Fair Haven.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-2 and the Braves fell to 2-2.

Manalapan led 10-3 in the second half when Coles and Devlin connected on their first touchdown of the evening, cutting the Braves’ lead to 10-9. Then, early in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs took the lead on Coles’ 34-yard touchdown pass to Pete Crowley.

After a successful two-point conversion, Rumson-Fair Haven led 17–10. But Manalapan rallied for a touchdown and extra point with just 34 seconds left, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.

Coles had a big night, tossing three touchdowns. Devlin did, too, catching two of those three scores, including the walk-off in overtime.

Rumson-Fair Haven needed a victory after losing to Toms River High School North, 22-21, on Sept. 27. The Bulldogs will go for their first winning streak of 2019 on Oct. 11 against powerful Mater Dei Prep. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Manalapan has now lost two straight games since starting the season at 2-0. The Braves will try to right the ship on Oct. 11 at home versus Long Branch High School. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
