Tim Howard was a leader on, off the soccer field

U.S. soccer phenom and North Brunswick’s hometown hero Tim Howard has hung up his cleats.

My friendship with Tim began when he played for the NY/NJ MetroStars MLS soccer team. He had moved into the position of starting goalie and wanted to go public with the fact that he had Tourette syndrome (TS). We supported him in that effort, he began volunteering with the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders, joined our board of directors, and brainstormed ideas for making a difference in the lives of individuals and families living with TS.

Together we have led the way to greater understanding and global acceptance of Tourette syndrome. We are proud of your accomplishments, Tim, as an athlete, an advocate, a man and a friend, and look forward to continuing our journey together for many years to come.

Thank you, Tim.
