The Old Bridge middle school soccer teams will host two Pink Out games at 6 p.m. on Oct. 10 to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Jonas Salk Middle School girls will play Carl Sandburg Middle School girls while the two middle school boys’ teams will take the challenge at the same time on adjacent fields at Geick Park, located off Route 516.

Pink-Out shirts, which cost $10, will be available for purchase.

The Salk Builders Club has volunteered to sell refreshments and collect cash donations during the games.

The Sayreville Public Library will be closed for renovations Oct. 12-20.
The Old Bridge, South Amboy, South River and East Brunswick libraries will honor Sayreville library cards.
Patrons may continue to return books and other materials in book drops at the Sayreville library during the closure.

The Old Bridge Public Library will welcome instrumental guitarist Peter Biedermann as part of the Second Saturday Concert Series at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the library, 1 Old Bridge Plaza, corner of Route 516 and Cottrell Road, Old Bridge.

Biedermann will focus on new pieces as well as material from his previous solo recordings on a variety of guitars in unique tunings.

The program encourages questions from the audience and will also include some of the history and evolution of steel string guitar playing over the last 50 years.

CDs will be for sale after the performance.

The Sayreville War Memorial High School (SWMHS) Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for its 2020 induction program, scheduled for spring 2020.

Nominees must be graduates of SWMHS who have made outstanding contributions to his/her profession, organization or community.

Briefly list the individual’s accomplishments, year of graduation and contact information, including email address.

Music at Saint Mary’s will present an American organ recital at 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Saint Mary Church, 256 Augusta St., South Amboy.

Organists Shea Velloso and Christopher Deibert will open the 2019-20 concert that includes a sing-a-long event to highlight the Saint Mary Church Jardine and Sons 1883 pipe organ.

A $15 donation is suggested.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the concert.

Sammy’s Hope Animal Welfare & Adoption Center in Sayreville will hold its second annual Happy Tails Fun Run and Walk on Oct. 26 at the Capik Nature Preserve off of Bordentown Ave (Route 615), between Browns and Cheesequake Road, Sayreville.

The cost is $30 per person, and a team of five is $25 per runner. The one mile scenic
walk is $10 per person and only $5 per person for anyone under 12.

The event is for humans only.

All participants will receive an event t-shirt.

Our Lady of Victories will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Monsignor Dalton Hall, 42 Main St., Sayreville.

There will be more than 75 vendors selling crafts and merchandise.

There will be wheels of chance including baked goods, gift cards and toys as prizes.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle, tricky tray, children’s games and pictures with Santa.

 

The Old Bridge Township Public School District provides special education and related services to disabled children/students ages 3-21 who are in need of special education.

Residents within the district or a person with a child attending a non-public school in Old Bridge who suspect their child may be disabled due to physical, sensory, emotional, communication, cognitive or social difficulties, can call the district’s Office of Special Services.

For children 3-5 years old, pre-school disabled means an identified disabling condition and or measurable developmental impairment that requires special education and related services.

St. Stan’s H.S.A. will hold its seventh annual Coach Bingo & Tricky Tray fundraiser on Oct. 18 in the school gym, 221 MacArthur Ave., Sayreville.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Calling begins at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket price is $30 per person and includes 12 games of bingo (three cards per game), coffee, tea and dessert. Additional bingo boards and daubers will be available for purchase.

There will also be various raffles and a 50/50.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and refreshments.

The First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville will hold a Fish and Chicken Fry on Oct. 18 at the church, 172 Main St., Sayreville.

Take out will begin at 5 p.m. Dining room seating will be from 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Chicken is available by advance order only.

The Middlesex County 4-H Haunted House and Hayrides will be held every Friday and Saturday in October from 7-10:30 p.m. at the 4-H Center, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

The cost is $5 for one activity or $8 for a combination ticket. Proceeds benefit 4-H community service projects.

The Brandon Tyler Narleski Foundation will hold its fourth annual fundraiser at Club Pure, 1970 Route 35, on Oct. 13.

Narleski was killed by a drunk driver in 2014 at age 19. The foundation was created in 2015.

Proceeds will be used for scholarships to SWMHS and Old Bridge High School and drum lessons for less fortunate individuals.

There will be music, food and a tricky tray.

St. Bernadette’s Church’s Social Concerns Ministry will hold its fall clothing drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the parking lot, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin section of Sayreville.
Clothing, small appliances, household items, toys, reading books, small furniture, linens, blankets, curtains, drapes, bedspreads, pillows, handbags and shoes will be collected. 
No large appliances or furniture will be accepted.

The Madison-Old Bridge Township Historical Society will hold its 54th annual Apple Festival from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Old Bridge Township Civic Center, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, Old Bridge.

There will be crafts, holiday gifts, refreshments, live music, historical re-enactments, fresh picked apples and handmade apple pies.

Admission is free. Parking is available in the Old Bridge Civic Center municipal lot.

The South Amboy-Sayreville Rotary will hold a Polka dance fundraiser to support community service projects. Each year the club provides free dictionaries to every third grade student in South Amboy and Sayreville.
