Mayor Joseph Altomonte explained that the company will perform upgrades that include replacing the water main service, water valves; milling and paving the existing roadway; removing and replacing the existing concrete curb; replace the existing storm drain curb pieces and also installing roadway stripping markings.

The council approved the resolution on Oct. 1 during the council meeting at the Matawan Community Center.

The borough received two bids and Brennan Brothers Contracting LLC had submitted a bid of $283,632. The chief financial officer has certified that the funds are available from the borough’s budget, according to the council agenda.

Altomonte said that construction should begin after the permitting process, which should take two to three weeks.
