Burlington County business professionals and locals alike are invited to participate in a networking event this month.
The Burlington Mercer Chamber of Commerce will serve as the host to the event.
The chamber’s upcoming Connections Business Expo and Networking Event is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 3–7 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Hall in Bordentown, which is located at 103 Dunns Mill Road. Chamber of commerce officials said attendance for the event is free of charge for people who bring a business card.
The Burlington Mercer Chamber of Commerce is a local association for business, tourism, re-location, information, non-profit, governmental and community groups in the area. The chamber’s outreach includes areas such as Bordentown City, Bordentown Township, Chesterfield, Columbus, Fieldsboro, Florence, Roebling, Mansfield, New Hanover, North Hanover, Springfield, and surrounding areas in Burlington and Mercer counties.
Lindsay McClellan, the Business Administrator for the Burlington Mercer Chamber of Commerce, said that this year’s networking event is expected to host multiple groups around the county areas who will be situated at booths and exhibits such as small businesses, restaurants, realtors, banks, insurance companies, law enforcement, government officials and nonprofits.
Alongside the organization’s annual Bordentown Street Fair, McClellan said that the networking event is one of the group’s biggest, anticipated gatherings as well as an opportunity for local professionals to engage one another.
“It’s a great event for all the local businesses to showcase their products and services to each other and network,” McClellan said.
McClellan explained that attendees of the event have the opportunity to participate and engage with other local businesses and professionals along with the chance to enjoy food and refreshments provided by vendors.
“[Attendees] can try food tastings from the local restaurants, talk to other businesses, pick up literature from the different exhibits there – it’s a cross between an expo and social hour,” McClellan said. “Everyone can network and even if you don’t have a booth there, people go with the idea that they can go with some business cards and try to drum up some business for themselves.”
The chamber of commerce official also noted that although the organization does have multiple corporate members, it is mostly comprised of small business members.
“The majority of business people that join our chamber are probably under 10 employees,” she said. “We fill a really specific niche that a lot of chambers don’t because it’s mostly smaller businesses.”
