Princeton man facing multiple charges after stabbing

A 21-year-old Princeton man who stabbed an East Brunswick Township man twice in the back and punched an East Brunswick Township woman in the face is facing multiple charges, the Princeton Police Department said.

The man has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the Oct. 11 incident at the Princeton Battlefield Park, police said.

The trio, who are all acquainted, went to the Princeton Battlefield Park on Mercer Street so the two men could fight, police said.

During the fight, the Princeton man pulled out a knife and stabbed the 22-year-old victim twice in the back and also punched the 18-year-old woman in the face, police said.

Police were notified of the incident around 8 p.m., when someone called to report having been kidnapped. When officers arrived, they found the victim sitting on the ground and suffering from two stab wounds to his back.

The victim was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which did not appear to be life-threatening. The woman refused medical attention.

The Princeton man was found nearby and arrested. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center.
