Members of the 2020 Police Unity Tour Team North Brunswick will hold a community fundraising event from 4-9 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Greene Turtle, Main Street, North Brunswick.

Metro Centre Association of Realtors will hold a tricky tray fundraiser for the Hugs for Brady Foundation from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at Saint Joseph High School, 145 Plainfield Ave., Metuchen.

Ticket packages range from $15-$250. Cash only.

Adults only.

The fundraiser will benefit children battling cancer.

The Friends of the South Brunswick Library Fall Boo-k Sale will offer a preview sale from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 17. Admission $10. All are welcome.
The Friends Fall Public Sale will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18; from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 19; and from 1-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 20. Free admission.
Funds raised by the sale of donated items help support literacy in South Brunswick, including library workshops, classes and seminars for all ages, interests and abilities.

The 6-acre cornfield at Von Thun’s Country Farm Market in South Brunswick has a different, fun theme carved into it each year.

The 2019 maze theme celebrates the 150th anniversary of college football and the two teams who started this American tradition, Rutgers and Princeton universities.

The maze takes approximately 35 to 45 minutes to walk through.

Admission to the maze is included with Fall Festival Weekend admission. The maze is also open from 1-5 p.m. weekdays; buy tickets at the Farm Market. There is a Moonlight Maze as well.

The Township of North Brunswick will celebrate its 240th anniversary with its fourth Community Gala on Oct. 18 at the Heldrich in New Brunswick, including a cocktail reception with an open bar, a dinner, entertainment and an awards program.

This year’s gala pays tribute to six community volunteers for their distinguished service to the community: Jocelyn Caffrey, Joseph “Pete” Clark, Thelma Comparato, James Grieco, the Rev. Mark McGrath and Evelyn Smirnow.

 Proceeds will continue the preservation and renovation of the Pulda Farmhouse and the launch of an effort to create and place historical markers at sites of notable interest throughout the township.

South Brunswick Community Development’s Charleston Place Senior Citizens will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 19 at the center, 3424 Route 27, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick.

Proceeds enable new and existing senior programs.

The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services will hold Trunk-or-Treat from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Veterans Park, Roosevelt Avenue, North Brunswick.

There will be costume contests, a hayride, a haunted house, trunk-or-treating and food trucks.

Entry fee is $5, or free with a donation to the North Brunswick Food Bank.

The North Brunswick Library will hold a course in self defense for women from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the library, 880 Hermann Road, North Brunswick.

The South Brunswick Senior Center will hold a Veterans Day Luncheon & Patriotic Party from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by acknowledgements at noon and musical entertainment by Stiletto & Sax at 12:15 p.m.

Homework Buddies Peer Tutoring has begun at the South Brunswick Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
The sessions will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. No appointment is necessary.
Select high school students volunteer to help students in kindergarten through 12th grade with homework and studying concerns.
Tutoring is not available on school holidays or early closing days.

The Middlesex County 4-H Haunted House and Hayrides will be held every Friday and Saturday in October from 7-10:30 p.m. at the 4-H Center, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

The cost is $5 for one activity or $8 for a combination ticket. Proceeds benefit 4-H community service projects.

The International Food Festival will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

The South Brunswick Senior Center will offer a program on how to make sound decisions during difficult times from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Nov. 14 at the center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Liz Cohen, a hospice social worker, will discuss how hospice and palliative care programs provide help and support, their similarities and differences, and how they can make a positive difference.

Our Lady of Peace Church will hold a choir concert to celebrate the church’s 50th anniversary at 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the church, 1740 Route 130, North Brunswick.

The Stained Glass Multi-Media Event will feature the church’s adult choir, the youth choir, and members of the Philomusica Concert Choir, under the direction of organist and choir director Joseph Suchocki.
