HELMETTA – Chris Slavicek is running unopposed as he seeks his second term as mayor of Helmetta for the next four years.

Slavicek, 38, was born and raised in Helmetta. He works as a vice president of sales and marketing for Chelsea Senior Living, providing oversight to 22 independent living, assisted living and memory care communities throughout New Jersey and New York.

Slavicek said he takes great pride in being active in the community. He serves as president of his homeowners association, a tenured Appleby School drama director for 18 years within the Spotswood Public Schools Board of Education, board member of the Spotswood Education Foundation, life member of the Spotswood PTA, and active supporter of the Spotswood Police Benevolent Association and Alzheimer’s New Jersey.

He recently was named Executive of the Year through Longtree and Associates in the New Jersey Healthcare professional network.

“I seek re-election as I have a strong desire to continue to enhance the services in the community I wholeheartedly respect and am proud to call my hometown,” he said. “It has been a pleasure engaging with so many families, friends and neighbors.”

Slavicek said that during his first term, he has focused on revitalizing the community in many different aspects.

“The ultimate goal was to enhance services, programs and beautification with fiscal responsibility being a priority,” he said, adding the goals have been accomplished with the support of the Borough Council.

“A municipal tax decrease supports these efforts. The emphasis for 2020 is to continue these obligations and also focus on the enhancement and integration of technology and its benefits to the borough and residents,” Slavicek said.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 5.
