The East Brunswick High School Marching Band will host the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Marching Band Competition at 5 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the high school, 380 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 students, or free for children under five.

Attendees will receive a voucher for a free beverage if bringing a non-perishable food item to support the East Brunswick Food Pantry.

 

Boy Scouts from Troops 54, 3 and 60 and Packs 54 and 105 will begin a food drive in Jamesburg, going door to door on Oct. 26 to distribute food donation bags to residents. On Nov. 2, they will collect the donations, then sort, organize and deliver them to the Deacons Food Cupboard.

Food donation bags are provided by Shop Rite and its Partners in Caring program. The Deacons Food Cupboard is a mission of the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg.

Anyone who wants to donate food on their own may bring it to 177A Gatzmer Ave., Jamesburg, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Later in the season, after farms in the area have collected their fall harvest, the scouts will glean their fields for produce. The gleanings will be distributed to food banks throughout New Jersey by Farmers Against Hunger. For more information, visit www.njagsociety.org.

 

 

Disability Allies of East Brunswick will hold its second annual Halloween party from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at The Young Adult Inclusion Center, in the Village Green Shopping Center, 415 Route 18, East Brunswick.

There will be games such as wrap the mummy, pin the bone on the skeleton, music, a dance contest, apple air bobbing and more. A singer will perform original music.

St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society will hold its Thanksgiving babka sale through Nov. 17.

The cost is $11.50 for cheese, cinnamon crumb, prune, raisin, poppy seed or chocolate. The cost is $13 for apricot and cheese or raspberry and cheese.

Orders, with payment, may be left during normal business hours at the parish office; enclosed in an envelope and dropped in the collection basket at church during all Masses; or mailed with checks made payable to St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, 30 Jackson St., South River.

Babkas will be available for pickup only from 3-6 p.m. on Nov. 21 in the Parish Center.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church will hold its fifth annual pumpkin patch from noon to 8 p.m. every day through Oct. 31 at the church, 568 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.

Officers from the East Brunswick Police Department and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee during Coffee with a Cop, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Brunswick Square Mall, 755 Route 18 south, East Brunswick. Panera Bread and Cinnabon will provide free coffee and refreshments.

Disability Allies of East Brunswick is initiating a family support group for families caring for adults ages 18 years and older at The Inclusion Center, 415 Route 18, East Brunswick.

The group will meet the last Tuesday of each month from 7:30–9 p.m. beginning on Oct. 29. It will be facilitated by Disability AlliessStaff, as well as professional guest speakers. 

The group is free of charge.

The East Brunswick Ghost Walk tour, located in the historic Old Bridge village section of town lasts about 90 minutes, rain or shine, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each Saturday at 5 Pine St. at the Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Company, East Brunswick. For GPS directions, use 21 Kossman St. as the central point of the historic village.

The tour is appropriate for ages eight and above, and are wheelchair- and stroller-friendly. Flashlights and cameras are recommended.

Parking is available in the neighborhood.

The cost is $8 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the fire department.

The Middlesex County 4-H Haunted House and Hayrides will be held every Friday and Saturday in October from 7-10:30 p.m. at the 4-H Center, 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

The cost is $5 for one activity or $8 for a combination ticket. Proceeds benefit 4-H community service projects.

The American Jewish Experience Lecture Series, presented by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, continues for its 22nd consecutive year with a presentation by Dr. Marcia Midler, entitled “Gertrude Berg: Broadcasting Pioneer/Creator of Molly Goldberg: the Original Jewish Mother.”

The East Brunswick Public Library and the East Brunswick Arts Commission will offer a multicultural dance workshop series at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road.

East Brunswick choreographer Phil Solomon leads a hip hop dance class on Nov. 10 for ages eight and up.

The series ends on Nov. 17 with an Israeli dance workshop. Led by Vera Galleid, the program shares circle, line and partner dances set to Israeli music, for ages eight and up.

All three dance workshops start at 12:30 p.m. These programs are free and open to the public.

“Veterans’ Voices” is a new documentary film (2019, 84 minutes) made by Central New Jersey 16-year-old Theodore Blume. The film captures stories of service spoken by nearly two dozen Monroe residents serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

“Camelot” will be June 12-28.

All performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets for the main stage are $22 for adults or $20 for seniors and students.

A season subscription of three shows is $63 per person, or $57 for seniors and students. A select package of four shows is $80 per person or $72 for seniors and students. An elite package of five shows is $95 per person, or $85 for seniors and students.

 Special times will be announced for “A Christmas Carol.” All tickets to “A Christmas Carol” and other special events and concerts are $15.
