MILLSTONE – A member of the Township Committee in Millstone Township is running unopposed for a full three-year term on the governing body in the Nov. 5 election.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Republican Al Ferro has been a member of the committee since September 2018, when he was appointed to fill a vacant seat for the remainder of the year. He succeeded Bob Kinsey, who resigned from the governing body shortly before his death.
In November 2018, Ferro and Democrat Raymond Dothard ran for election to serve the final year (2019) of Kinsey’s term. Ferro won the one-year term he is currently serving.
Now, Ferro is seeking his first three-year term on the governing body, which will run from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. He is running unopposed for the position.
Prior to joining the Township Committee, Ferro served as an alternate member of the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He has continued to serve on the Planning Board as the mayor’s designee.
Ferro, who has been a resident of Millstone since 2000, has worked as a law enforcement officer in New York for more than 20 years.
“(My career) has given me extensive experience in formulating plans, policy and implementing department-wide initiatives,” he said. “Presently, I design, implement and support computer networks with an emphasis on data security. My experience in law enforcement and computers give me great knowledge that I can bring to Millstone.
“I love the rural character, beauty and calm Millstone has and provides,” Ferro said. “I want to keep our town pristine and beautiful for the future. This is my primary goal. I have the best interests of our town in mind and put Millstone first.
“I bring a fresh look to steer the township in the right direction. I will try to resolve issues, make informed decisions and take the best approach. I am constantly strengthening my relationships with county and state legislators, allowing Millstone to have a greater voice,” he said.
All five members of the Township Committee are Republicans. Ferro is joined on the governing body by Gary Dorfman, Nancy Grbelja, Michael Kuczinski and Fiore Masci.
