EAST BRUNSWICK – The East Brunswick Public Library Foundation was established in 2009 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors. Since then, the foundation has raised money for the library through a variety of fundraising events, private and corporate donations, and planned giving.
“Thanks to the support of the community, we’ve been able to host very successful fundraising events, like the library’s 50th anniversary celebration and our Gala for Children’s Literacy,” said Andy Farmer, president of the East Brunswick Public Library Foundation, in a statement provided by the library.
As a result, the group has been able to provide funding for several programs at the East Brunswick Public Library. In 2018, the foundation sponsored a pilot program that removed overdue book fines, allowing children and families to have more access to library materials. This successful initiative became a permanent library policy in 2019, according to the statement.
The group has also sponsored events with the best-selling authors, including Brian Selznick, Dan Gutman and Marc Brown.
“As proud as we are of our author programs, our biggest achievement has been providing the funding for the library to re-do the meeting rooms last summer,” Farmer said.
The library’s three meeting rooms were renovated entirely in 2018, now including state-of-the-art digital projectors, an improved microphone and sound system, and carpeting.
“We are currently launching a capital campaign to help fund a renovation and expansion project at the library,” Farmer said in the statement. “If you have ever considered supporting East Brunswick Public Library, this is a great time.”
