Parisi, Lavin seek seats on FRHSD board

Marc Parisi of Howell and Kathie Lavin of Farmingdale are running unopposed for three-year terms on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education in the Nov. 5 general election. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Parisi is running for election as one of Howell’s two representatives. Under the board’s voting structure, residents of Howell and Farmingdale will vote for Parisi.

Board member Amy Fankhauser of Howell is not seeking re-election.

Lavin is running unopposed for re-election. Under the board’s voting structure, residents of Farmingdale and Howell will vote for Lavin. She could not be reached for comment.

Parisi has lived in Howell for five years. He has two children who attend Howell High School and a child in eighth grade who will attend Howell High School beginning in September. He has worked for the Social Security disability program for 10 years.

Commenting on his decision to run for a seat on the board, Parisi said, “I have long felt a calling to public service and ran for the Howell K-8 School District board last year. I look forward to representing my community (on the FRHSD board).

“I intend to build productive relationships with my fellow board members, Superintendent of Schools Charles Sampson and his administration. Freehold Regional is one of the best school districts in New Jersey and despite fiscal challenges from state aid cuts, I believe the district will find ways to continue being one of the best,” he said.
