Sensory Play for children ages 3-5 will be held from 1-1:45 p.m. on Nov. 8.

The Knitting & Crocheting Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 9. This club is opened to anyone interested in learning how to knit or crochet. Children must attend with parent. Supplies will be provided.

The Sunday Afternoon Book Club is reading “My Name is Asher Lev” by Chaim Potok. Visit the library’s front desk to pick up a copy prior to the meeting at noon on Nov. 10.

North Brunswick Township High School will be invaded by more than 40 high school-aged FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics teams on Nov. 9 for the 18th year of the robotic’ team’s post-season event, Brunswick Eruption.

Doors open at 8 a.m., with the opening ceremonies beginning at 8:30 am. at North Brunswick Township High School, 98 Raider Road, North Brunswick.

Raider Robotix Team 25 members will collect food items for the North Brunswick Food Bank, as well as lightly worn or usable shoes at the side door of the high school until 9 a.m.

 

Rabbi Levi Azimov of Chabad of South Brunswick will offer Worrier to Warrior, a new six-session course by the acclaimed Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), to help people deal with life challenges by accepting themselves and finding meaning in adversity, beginning Nov. 12 from 7:45-9:15 p.m. at the chabad, 1 Riva Ave., North Brunswick.

Examine factors that prevent us from achieving a more positive outlook – guilt, shame, and fear of inauthenticity- in light of the notion that a purposeful life provides the key to well-being.

North Brunswick will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the auditorium at North Brunswick Township High School, 98 Raider Road, North Brunswick.

The patriotic ceremony will include a tribute to veterans and a panel discussion. Lunch will be served by Chartwells Food Services.

American Legion Post 401’s annual food drive in support of the South Brunswick Food Bank is ongoing.

Area residents may drop off non-perishable food donations any time after 4 p.m., seven days a week, at the post home, 148 Major Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Items needed include coffee, tea, water, Parmalot milk, vegetables, canned and boxed potatoes, rice, canned meats, beef stew, chili, canned and boxed pastas, cereal and oatmeal, boxed macaroni and cheese, boxed cake mixes and icing, pie crusts and filling, brownie mixes, muffin mix and soups.

North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Adams Athletic Club, 1210 Cozzens Lane, North Brunswick.

Menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread, beverages, dessert, coffee and tea.

Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under, or free for children under 5.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

Proceeds benefit firefighters.

 

 

A Veterans Day Observance Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the monument in front of the South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road (Route 522), South Brunswick.

Veterans from Lt. John Farnkopf American Legion Post 401 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9111 will present ceremonial wreathes in honor and memory of veterans of all branches of the service.

The South Brunswick High School Viking Band, with directors Donna Cardaneo and Virginia Kraft, will provide the music.

Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at VFW Post 9111, Henderson Road, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick.

 

Homework Buddies Peer Tutoring has begun at the South Brunswick Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.
The sessions will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. No appointment is necessary.
Select high school students volunteer to help students in kindergarten through 12th grade with homework and studying concerns.
Tutoring is not available on school holidays or early closing days.

 

 

The South Brunswick Senior Center will hold a food drive during November and December at the center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Needed items include coffee, canned tomatoes, boxed milk, canned fruit, canned meat, prepared noodles, rice mix, macaroni and cheese, whole wheat pasta, peanut butter and jelly, hearty soups, canned tomatoes, canned vegetables, juice boxes, pancake mix and syrup, oatmeal, cereal and toiletries.

The International Food Festival will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the South Brunswick Senior Center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

The South Brunswick Senior Center will offer a program on how to make sound decisions during difficult times from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Nov. 14 at the center, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Liz Cohen, a hospice social worker, will discuss how hospice and palliative care programs provide help and support, their similarities and differences, and how they can make a positive difference.

With President Donald Trump’s signature on the LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service), the ongoing declared period of war was extended back to Dec. 7, 1941, making all honorably discharged veterans eligible for membership in the American Legion.

Eligibility now spans from Dec. 7, 1941, until a time when the United States is no longer at war, as determined by Congress.

Our Lady of Peace Church will hold a choir concert to celebrate the church’s 50th anniversary at 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the church, 1740 Route 130, North Brunswick.

The Stained Glass Multi-Media Event will feature the church’s adult choir, the youth choir, and members of the Philomusica Concert Choir, under the direction of organist and choir director Joseph Suchocki.
