Voters in Farmingdale went to the polls on Nov. 5 and elected members of the Borough Council.
There was no municipal election in Howell or Jackson this year.
Voters in Farmingdale, Howell and Jackson elected members of their local school board.
Voters in Farmingdale and Howell also cast their ballots for two members of the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education and on three referendum questions that were placed on the ballot by the regional high school district.
All of the election results are unofficial and will remain unofficial until a vote counting process that could take more than a week has been completed.
The totals as of Nov. 6 do not include late mail-in ballots and provisional ballots, which are expected to be tallied later this week.
Farmingdale municipal
Running unopposed for mayor, incumbent James Daly won a new four-year term. As of Nov. 6, Daly has 295 votes.
Running unopposed for two seats on the Borough Council, incumbents Michael Romano and George Dyevoich have won election. As of Nov. 6, Romano and Dyevoich have 273 votes and 259 votes, respectively.
Farmingdale Public School Board of Education
There were two seats available on the Farmingdale Board of Education, but incumbent Jessica Verney was the only resident to file a nominating petition. Verney has won election and as of Nov. 6 she has 241 votes.
According to the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office website, 58 write-in votes were cast in the Farmingdale school board election, but as of Nov. 6 election officials have not reported who received write-in votes or how many write-in votes any individual has received.
The second available seat on the school board could be won by a write-in candidate.
Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education
Running unopposed for a seat on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education, Marc Parisi won a three-year term as a representative of Howell. As of Nov. 6, voters in Howell and Farmingdale have given Parisi a combined total of 5,736 votes.
Running unopposed for re-election, Kathie Lavin won a new three-year term on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education as Farmingdale’s representative. As of Nov. 6, voters in Farmingdale and Howell have given Lavin a combined total of 5,505 votes.
Freehold Regional High School District referendum
Voters in the eight municipalities that comprise the Freehold Regional High School District were asked by the Board of Education to approve a $41.7 million referendum.
The referendum included three questions and in order for Question No. 2 and/or Question No. 3 to pass, Question No. 1 had to pass. As of Nov. 6, all three questions appear to have been defeated.
Question No. 1 ($20 million) proposed security initiatives such as interior door locks, security vestibules and public address systems; roofing and paving work; and auditorium renovations at Freehold High School. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 1 has 16,557 “no” votes and 15,759 “yes” votes.
Question No. 2 ($12 million) proposed bleacher replacements and new STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) rooms at each high school. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 2 has 17,041 “no” votes and 15,074 “yes” votes.
Question No. 3 ($8.5 million) proposed the installation of synthetic turf athletic fields at Freehold Township High School, Manalapan High School and Marlboro High School, and a new media center at Colts Neck High School. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 3 has 17,235 “no” votes and 14,576 “yes” votes.
Howell K-8 School District Board of Education
Cristy Mangano, Mark Bonjavanni, Laurence Gurman, Joseph Tate were in the race for three three-year terms on the Howell school board. As of Nov. 6, incumbents Mangano (4,993 votes) and Bonjavanni (4,917 votes) and newcomer Tate (4,046 votes) appear to have won the three seats. Gurman has received 2,933 votes as of Nov. 6.
Jackson School District Board of Education
Michael Walsh, Tom Colucci and Selene Haskins were in the race for two three-year terms on the Jackson school board. As of Nov. 6, incumbents Walsh (4,487 votes) and Colucci (3,651 votes) appear to have won the two seats. Haskins has 2,951 votes as of Nov. 6.
