South River mayor wins third term

Incumbent Candidate Mayor John Krenzel will face Democratic Candidate Tele Koukourdelis for the mayor's seat on Primary Election Day on June 4.

SOUTH RIVER–Long-time Republican Mayor John Krenzel defeated Democratic challenger Tele Koukourdelis during the mayoral race in South River on Nov. 5.

Krenzel won his third term with 1,357 votes/54%, compared to Koukourdelis with 1,175 votes/46%.

“The South River Republicans are very happy that our message was received by the voters. Through much hard work, we explained what we were doing and what our opponents did not do. They heard and understood the message and voted for the Republican team in so that we can continue providing the services and the type of government the people of South River need and want,” Krenzel said.

Koukourdelis could note be reached for comment by press time.

Election results are according to the Middlesex County Board of Elections and are unofficial until certified.
