OLD BRIDGE – The annual Celebration of Life event brings patients, their families and care providers together.

Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center (RBMC) hosted its third Celebration of Life event, which honors the life of each patient, on Oct. 19 at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge.

“The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU) teams see firsthand the remarkable strength and extraordinary courage of our patients and their families each day,” Thomas Shanahan, chief hospital executive of RBMC, said in a prepared statement. “The Celebration of Life event is a remarkable and beautiful day designed to connect the care team to their purpose of making a difference in the lives of others.”

Each year since 2007, patients and families have reconnected with care providers and extended their gratitude for employees of the hospitals in Old Bridge and Perth Amboy. This year’s event included a live band, musical performances, inspirational speakers, patient and family stories and a candle ceremony in remembrance of all lives cared for in the RBMC ICU/CCU units over the past year, according to the statement.
