One of Bordentown’s staple events for the past 74 years during the holiday season is set to return next week.

Celebrating approximately three quarters of a century this year, the 74th annual Trinity United Methodist Church’s (TUMC) Christmas Bazaar is scheduled to serve as the host to its holiday marketplace event on Nov. 22-23.

The annual event will be held at the TUMC building on 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.

The Nov. 22 event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. While the Nov. 23 event is scheduled from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and then from 4-7 p.m.

Shirley Fisher, one of the annual event’s coordinators, said this year’s bazaar will feature multiple tables for Bordentown patrons to purchase goods from crafts table, a bake table and other items such as homemade candy, used clothing for adults and youths, and items made with horseshoes by local artisans.

For the Nov. 22 event, Fisher explained that the day will feature a luncheon and vegetable soup sale, and attendees should call 609-298-3547 or 609-298-1914 to order their soup in advance. Egg salad and beef barbecue sandwiches will also be served along with desserts and beverages.

Fisher said the Nov. 23 event will hold a “snack bar” themed sale from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., where attendees can purchase hot dogs and other goods while the Saturday evening time slot will feature hoagies, sandwiches and desserts.

With the event currently running for more than 70 years, Fisher said she felt the marketplace festivity has not only been a constant in the Bordentown community, but also wants to see it grow.

“It’s a very big Christmas Bazaar and we have a great reputation. That’s why we do so well,” Fisher said. “The church is well known for this event and how much we have always done, so this year we are trying to go all out more.

“Bordentown is a very special community. There are a lot of things that go on here with a lot of history and uniqueness, and this is a part of it.… We are trying something new and different, and hopefully it will take off to encourage more people to come out,” Fisher added.
