A new traffic signal is in effect at the intersection of Stelton and Ethel roads.
Officials attended a ribbon cutting on Nov. 9 to commemorate the completion of a 6,350-foot-long roadway improvement. The project extends from Ethel Road in Piscataway to Kilmer Road in Edison. Along with traffic signals and crosswalks, the project improvements include two 12-foot travel lanes, two 8-foot shoulders, and a 12-foot dual left center turning lane. The other signal locations either replaced or created, are located at Jesse Way, Rivendell Way, Brunswick Avenue, and Kilmer Road. The project’s construction cost is more than $10 million, according to information provided by the Middlesex County Office of Communication.
“The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders is committed to making transportation safer throughout the county. This project is a great example of that commitment,” Deputy Director Charles Tomaro said in the statement. “By improving certain areas and making new additions, we are keeping our infrastructure strong and safe including on Stelton Road.”
“I cannot thank the Board of Chosen Freeholders enough for working with us hand in hand to get this over the finish line,” said Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler. “It took a lot of time and effort to get this project finished, and it has culminated in a very safe road where people can walk, bike, and travel.”
