Second victim identified in fatal Jamesburg fire

JAMESBURG – A 53-year-old man has been identified as the second victim whose body was found during a Jamesburg fire on Nov. 6.

Gregory Fischer, 53, of Jamesburg, has been identified by the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner’s Office as the second victim in the fire at a home he resided in on Sheridan Street. The first victim was Clifford Kitchen, 53, also of Jamesburg.

The Medical Examiner’s Office performed the autopsies, and determined the manner of death for both victims to be homicide, with the cause of death being fatal stab wounds, according to information provided by Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christie L. Bevacqua and Chief James J. Craparotta of the Jamesburg Police Department.

Clifford Kitchen is the father of the suspect, Jaree D. Kitchen, 21, of Jamesburg. Jaree D. Kitchen has been charged with murder and aggravated arson in the fire he caused at his father’s home.

The two deceased victims were located during the fire, which occurred around 3:45 a.m., according to reports.

Jaree D. Kitchen was charged on Nov. 6 with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated arson in the second degree, hindering his own prosecution in the third degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the third degree, and destroying physical evidence in the fourth degree.

Jaree Kitchen is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing scheduled for Nov. 13.
