‘Treats & Trees’ celebrates season for The Allentown Village Initiative

ALLENTOWN – Members of the public are invited to attend a special “Treats & Trees” reception sponsored by The Allentown Village Initiative (TAVI) from 4-6 p.m. Dec. 15 at the McCormick home, 153 Route 526, Allentown.

Guests will enjoy more than 200 decorated Christmas trees in the interior and almost 25,000 lights on the outside of the family home. Tickets to the reception are $10. All proceeds will benefit TAVI’s community improvement projects, according to a press release.

TAVI is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit, historic preservation, community revitalization organization dedicated to helping the community achieve its potential, according to the press release.

TAVI partners with other community organizations, individuals and institutions to beautify Allentown’s main streets and other common areas, help the downtown commercial district thrive, restore the borough’s historic charm, protect its natural resources and make the area a better place to live, work, invest in, and enjoy, according to the press release.

Currently, TAVI is working to replace weathered “Welcome to Allentown” signs on roads that lead into the borough. TAVI has also worked to restore a Revolutionary War era cemetery on Lakeview Drive. The organization sponsors an annual reading of the Declaration of Independence in Pete Sensi Park.

The McCormicks have been decorating their home for more than 30 years, the last 15 in Upper Freehold-Allentown. It is a “green” effort that features handmade, repurposed and recycled decorations combined in a massive, yet elegant display, according to the press release.
