Police issue ‘shelter in place’ after suspicious male reported near East Brunswick schools

EAST BRUNSWICK–Three East Brunswick Public Schools went into Shelter in Place after the East Brunswick Police Department was made aware of a reported male with a weapon around 2:10 p.m. on Nov.12.

Police received a report of the suspicious male in the area of Arthur Street near East Brunswick High School, according to a prepared statement from the East Brunswick Public Schools.

During the investigation, East Brunswick High School, Irwin Elementary School and Central Elementary School were put in a Shelter in Place due to their proximity to the area that the police were investigating, according to the statement.

EBPD concluded the investigation after identifying the reported individual. It was determined that he had no weapon and posed no threat to the public, according to the statement. 

The Shelters in Place were released at 2:45 p.m.
