Christian Brothers Academy had a total of 10 student athletes sign letters of intent to play at the college level during National Signing Day on Nov. 13.
Leading the list of athletes college bound are pitcher Patrick Reilly of the CBA baseball team and thrower Eros Bottino of the Colts’ track and field squad.
Reilly committed to pitch for national power Vanderbilt University after earning second-team All-Shore Conference honors as a junior this past spring.
Fellow CBA baseball pitcher Braedin Hunt also signed his letter of content to play baseball at Virginia Commonwealth University. Catcher Mason Wolfe will stay close to home, signing to play baseball at Monmouth University.
Bottino signed his letter of content to throw in the Ivy League for Harvard University. Last spring, Bottino placed second overall in discus and sixth in the shot put at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions.
The 2019 Non-Public A javelin champion Chris Arias was the other CBA thrower who committed on signing day. He will throw for the William & Mary University.
Sprinter Liam O’Hare and distance runner Troy Hill will both join Bottino in the Ivy League, each committing to run for the University of Pennsylvania. Distance runner Nolan Kus signed to run for Quinnipiac University.
Swimmers Ben Dupree and Liam Morris both signed their respective letters of content. Both two-time state champions and three-time conference champions, Dupree will swim in college at Florida Southern University, while Morris will compete for Loyola University of Maryland’s swim team.
Christian Brothers will hold additional signing days in February and April for its student-athletes.
“On behalf of the CBA community, I would like to congratulate these fine student-athletes and their families on this special occasion,” CBA athletic director Vito Chiaravalloti said. “With a relentless, can-do spirit, they have worked hard in the classroom and in their sport to reach a level so many dream of reaching. It’s been a privilege to watch them develop here at the Academy and we wish them well as they go on to accomplish great things at the next level.”
