FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A contract has been awarded by the Township Committee for a pavement overlay program and work on an local road.
On Oct. 15, committee members awarded a $996,750 contract to Meco Inc. for the 2019 fall pavement overlay program and the first phase of work on Iron Bridge Road.
Meco Inc., which is based in neighboring Millstone Township, was awarded the contract as the lowest responsible bidder, according to the resolution.
According to the resolution, the bid from Meco Inc. was composed of a $414,116 proposal and a $582,634 proposal. The governing body accepted both proposals for the $996,750 total.
Other bids for the jobs were submitted by P.M. Construction Corp. ($1.07 million); Earle Asphalt Company ($1.12 million); S. Brothers Inc. ($1.38 million); and Black Rock Enterprises, LLC, ($1.41 million).
In other business, the committee awarded a $57,500 contract to ARM OPCO Inc. (American Road Machinery Company), Canton, Ohio, for a new 25-cubic yard, trailer-mounted, self-contained vacuum leaf collector.
American Road Machinery Company received the contract as the lowest responsible bidder, according to a resolution. Another bid was submitted by Trius Inc., Farmingdale, which bid $78,887.
And, committee members passed a resolution to renew an inactive liquor license that is held by Mamta Freehold Restaurant, LLC, Route 9, for 2019-20.
Finally, the committee authorized the execution of an amended shared services agreement with the Freehold Township K-8 School District Board of Education for the continued use of Class II and Class III special officers in the district’s schools. The police officers are employees of the Freehold Township Police Department.
