There were smiles all around as four new East Windsor Township police officers were sworn into office by Mayor Janice S. Mironov at a recent East Windsor Township Council meeting.
Michael A. Pidhorecki Jr., Joshua B. Pohl, Christopher W. McDermott and Evan T. McNamara were sworn in to fill vacancies in the East Windsor Township Police Department due to retirements and promotions.
Acknowledging the East Windsor Township police officers who stood along the walls in the Township Council meeting chambers on Oct. 29 in support of their new colleagues, Mayor Mironov congratulated the four new police officers.
“I congratulate these new police officers who have the good career fortune to join an outstanding, professional and community caring organization of police officers under the leadership of Police Chief James Geary and our superior ranked officers,” Mayor Mironov said.
“We have established very high standards and a rigorous hiring process for new officers so we can ensure that we have the very best police department in New Jersey,” Mayor Mironov said.
“These new officers have successfully passed the selection process to become part of a high quality and effective team in East Windsor,” the mayor said.
Pidhorecki graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy in May 2018. He is studying for an associate’s degree at Brookdale Community College.
Pidhorecki worked as a Class I and Class II special law enforcement officer with the Point Pleasant Police Department before joining the East Windsor Township Police Department. His mother, Dorothy Pidhorecki, attended his swearing-in ceremony.
Pohl graduated from the Cape May Police Academy in June 2019. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Arcadia University. He grew up in East Windsor Township and graduated from Hightstown High School.
Pohl worked as a Class II special law enforcement officer with the North Wildwood Police Department before joining the East Windsor Township Police Department. His parents, Scott and Linda Pohl, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Pohl also is a volunteer firefighter with East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, and was named the department’s “Firefighter of the Year” for 2017.
McDermott graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy in May 2019. He earned a bachelor’s degree in law and justice from Rowan University.
McDermott worked as a Class I and Class II special law enforcement officer with the Spring Lake Police Department before joining the East Windsor Township Police Department. His mother, Anna McDermott, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
McNamara also graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy in May 2019. He holds an associate’s degree in business administration from Brookdale Community College.
McNamara worked as a Class I and Class II special law enforcement officer with the Bradley Beach Police Department before joining the East Windsor Township Police Department. He also worked as an emergency medical technician with the Wall Township Police Department. His parents, Jeffrey and Deborah McNamara, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Police Officers Pidhorecki, Pohl, McDermott and McNamara are among the nine new police officers who have been sworn into office this year to fill vacancies in the Uniformed Services Division of the East Windsor Township Police Department.
The five new police officers who were sworn into office this year include Dylan Barlow, Bryan M. Butchon, John J. Cate, Sebastian Marin and Nicole M. Orbin.
