Tri-Town News election wrap-up, Nov. 20

Voters in Farmingdale went to the polls on Nov. 5 and elected a mayor and two members of the Borough Council.

There was no municipal election in Howell or Jackson this year.

Voters in Farmingdale, Howell and Jackson elected members of local boards of education.

Voters in Farmingdale and Howell also cast their ballots for two members of the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education.

Farmingdale municipal

Running unopposed for mayor, incumbent James Daly won a new four-year term in Farmingdale. Daly received 295 votes.

Running unopposed for two seats on the Borough Council, incumbents Michael Romano and George Dyevoich won election. Romano received 273 votes and Dyevoich received 259 votes.

Farmingdale Public School Board of Education

There were two seats available on the Farmingdale Board of Education, but incumbent Jessica Verney was the only resident to file a nominating petition. Verney won election with 241 votes.

According to the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office website, 58 write-in votes were cast in the Farmingdale school board election.

Denise Nick received 19 write-in votes, Christine Schneiweiss received 15 write-in votes and Stella Skinner received nine write-in votes. It was unknown as of Nov. 12 which, if any, of those three individuals would claim the second available seat.

Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education

Running unopposed for a seat on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education, Marc Parisi won a three-year term as a representative of Howell. Voters in Howell and Farmingdale gave Parisi a combined total of 5,787 votes.

Running unopposed for re-election, Kathie Lavin won a new three-year term on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education as Farmingdale’s representative. Voters in Farmingdale and Howell gave Lavin a combined total of 5,556 votes.

Howell K-8 School District Board of Education

Cristy Mangano, Mark Bonjavanni, Laurence Gurman, Joseph Tate were in the race for three three-year terms on the Howell school board. Incumbents Mangano (5,044 votes) and Bonjavanni (4,956 votes) and newcomer Tate (4,088 votes) won the three seats. Gurman, who was serving on the school board, received 2,964 votes.

Jackson School District Board of Education

Michael Walsh, Tom Colucci and Selene Haskins were in the race for two three-year terms on the Jackson school board. Incumbents Walsh (4,491 votes) and Colucci (3,657 votes) won the two seats. Haskins received 2,961 votes.
