HOLMDEL – Two teachers from the Holmdel School District were recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education as Exemplary Secondary Educators.

Holmdel High School Mathematics Teacher Nicole Fiorletti and William R. Satz School Science Teacher Jennifer Flynn were visited by Superintendent of Schools Robert McGarry and other district administrators to announce this distinction in front of their students on Nov. 15. Both teachers were recognized with an official certificate from the New Jersey Department of Education.

The Exemplary Educators program identifies educators who exhibit exceptional teaching
abilities via their instructional practices both in the classroom and beyond and whose
contributions are largely unheralded but no less worthy of recognition. This award recognizes educators who engage and inspire not only their students but also their colleagues and school community.

Each year, the New Jersey Department of Education invites school administrators to confidentially nominate an outstanding educator in their building for this honor. The award
winners alternate between elementary (PreK -5) and secondary (6-12) every year. Nominees must be mid-career professionals with at least five years of experience. Supervisor of Math and Science Mrs. Alicia Killeen initiated the nomination for both of these teachers with several district administrators supporting the application submitted last spring.

“This is a proud day for Holmdel,” McGarry said, “It affirms much of what we believe we
see taking place in classrooms across the district – superior teaching and impactful instructional leadership.”

“These teachers’ enthusiasm, dedication and love for what they do and who they do it for has had a tremendous influence upon our students and staff members,” Director of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Dineen Seeley indicated.
