The Florence Township Police released a Nov. 17 statement that charges were issued against two people for the alleged manufacturing of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Florence police reported that on Nov. 17 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers were monitoring a Honda Accord for suspicious activity at the Stangel Motel.
Police said the vehicle then left the area of the Stangel Motel and proceeded on N. Route 130. Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop as it turned into the Northview Motel, according to police.
During the investigation, Officer Czepiel and a K-9 were called to the scene and conducted a K-9 sniff for narcotics test, police said. Once the K-9 gave a positive indication for narcotics inside the vehicle, the driver, a 35-year-old resident of Lindenwold and the passenger, a 27-year-old resident of Beverly, were both reported to be in possession of controlled dangerous substances, according to police.
As the officers were searching the vehicle, they reported to have found materials that are consistent with a methamphetamine lab, and the officers immediately stopped the search.
Officials said that the Florence police contacted the Burlington County Hazardous Materials Unit due to the dangerous chemicals found in the vehicle. Burlington County HazMat arrived on scene and safely contained the chemicals, officials said.
Both alleged suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Florence police department for processing, police said. Upon completion of processing, both suspects were charged with manufacturing of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The 35-year-old suspect was also issued motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle and failure to use a turn signal, police said. Both were then transported to Burlington County Jail pending their court date.
