Carol B. Herts, who ran unsuccessfully for the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional Board of Education, will join candidate Yan Mei Wang, who ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the West Windsor Township Council, at the Mercer County Administration Building as the two have been granted approval for votes to be recounted in each of their respected elections.
The two will challenge at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the results of the 2019 general election, which took place on Nov. 5, and had both candidates losing by less than 1% of total votes.
Herts, who recorded a total of 2,745 votes, fell short behind running mates Louisa Ho and Graelynn McKeown, who respectfully, earned 2,975 and 2,806 votes, for two three-year terms on the board of education.
Losing by just 61 votes, Herts filed a petition on Nov. 13 for a recount and was recently approved.
Wang, who brought in 2,425 votes, fell behind Andrea Sue Mandel with 2,808 votes, Michael Ray Stevens with 2,661 and Sonia Gawas with 2,540.
Wang, who fell behind the nonpartisan team of Community Leaders for West Windsor for three four-year terms on the council by only 115 votes, also filed a petition for a recount.
