The event will feature, “Bridge Over the River Kwai,” a Japanese slave labor survivor story from the account of WWII naval veteran, Howard Brooks, as he tells the story of the Pacific theatre and his P.O.W. experience during World War II.

Attendees will be treated to a video interview with Brooks filmed the Armed Forces Heritage Museum. When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Howard Brooks was serving aboard the USS Houston. Encountering a Japanese Navy flotilla, the USS Houston fought until it was sunk.

Brooks clung to a raft for three days before he was taken captive and forced to build the Malaysia-Burma railroad. The film addresses the conditions Howard and others endured.

Brooks returned home at the end of the war. He passed away in 2016 at 93-years-old. His wife, Sylvia Brooks, will be available for a Q&A session after the screening.

The screening will be hosted at the Bordentown Township Senior Citizen Center located at 3 Municipal Drive, Bordentown. The event will begin at 2 p.m.
