Criminal charge brought in Metuchen motorcycle crash

METUCHEN – A Metuchen man has been charged in the Nov. 21 motorcycle crash in which a man from Piscataway was seriously injured.

Anthony Bing, 38, was charged with aggravated assault, an assault by auto occurring in the vicinity of a school zone, a crime of the second degree, according to a statement provided by Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief David Irizarry of the Metuchen Police Department.

The injured motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man from Piscataway, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.

During the investigation, it was determined that on Nov. 21 at approximately 7:14 p.m., Bing was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro along Central Avenue when he allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic into the path of a 2013 Victory motorcycle near the vicinity of Copperfield Lane, according to the statement.

The 47-year-old victim was transported to JFK Medical Center in Hospital, then transferred to University Hospital in Newark with life-threatening injuries, according to the statement.

Bing is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick.
