FREEHOLD – After two decades of service to Freehold Borough, Joseph Bellina is retiring from his position as the municipality’s business administrator.
Members of the Borough Council recently passed a resolution confirming Bellina’s retirement, which will become effective on Dec. 31.
Borough Council President Kevin Kane and council members Michael DiBenedetto, Annette Jordan and Margaret Rogers voted “yes” on a motion to confirm Bellina’s retirement.
With the motion having received the necessary number of “yes” votes to pass, Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer voted “no.” Councilman George Schnurr was absent.
Bellina became Freehold Borough’s business administrator in January 2000. His retirement will conclude 20 years of service to the municipality.
“Joe Bellina has served the borough and its residents extremely well during his time with us,” Mayor Nolan Higgins said after the meeting. “He has managed the day-to-day operations of the municipality and advocated for our residents, businesses, governing body, borough committees and commissions, shared service partners, vendors, utilities and professionals. He has managed our response through storms, blizzards, power outages, a supercell (storm) and Superstorm Sandy.
