NORTH BRUNSWICK – North Brunswick experienced a water main break on Hidden Lake Drive the afternoon of Dec. 10.

Due to the nature of the break, American Water was forced to turn off the water on Overhill Drive as well as a few homes on Hidden Lake Drive to facilitate repairs.

“Our crews are currently working on making the necessary repairs and restoring the water service to normal conditions,” Pete Peterson, project manager, American Water Contract Services Group, said in a statement posted on the township’s Facebook page around 7 p.m. on Dec. 10.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding and please know that American Water is taking all precautions while repairing the water main break to keep your drinking water clean and safe. Once the repairs are complete, we will take a precautionary step of flushing the fire hydrants in the area to reduce any discoloration that may occur while we restore the water supply to your homes,” he said in the statement.

American Water deemed water in the township as safe, according to the statement, and for the area affected by the water main break, once the water service is restored, water will be safe to utilize as normal, Peterson said in the statement.
