Princeton’s rapid response rally will be one of 400 actions occurring nationwide in 48 states and Washington, D.C.

The mobilization is part of a massive, grassroots effort to ensure Congress holds Donald Trump accountable for using military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 elections.

Protestors will demand that the House of Representatives fulfills its constitutional duty by impeaching Donald Trump and that the Senate remove him from office for attempting to rig the 2020 elections.

Congress must show that no one—including the resident in the White House—is above the law.

“The framers of our Constitution believed that a leader who commits bribery and invites foreign influence in our elections deserves to be impeached,” said Kathy Taylor of Indivisible Princeton. “Now is the time to stand together to rein in a corrupt, lawless President intent on cheating in the 2020 election to hold on to power.”

Local co-sponsoring organizations include: The Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, Indivisible Cranbury, Lawrence Citizen Activists, STAND Central New Jersey, Indivisible Princeton, Indivisible Monroe, Princeton Community Democratic Organization, and Princeton University Democrats.

“As we journey together as a people on this arduous and painful but ultimately rewarding path back to the rule of law in our great country, we at the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice are proud to gather with a strong coalition of allies as well as with our greater community to organize an ‘Impeach & Remove’ Rapid Response Rally – one of hundreds collectively across the nation to amplify our patriotic voices and affirm our strong belief in the very foundations of our democracy,” said Robt Seda-Schreiber, chief activist of the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice.

Speakers will include, but are not limited to: Sean Wilentz, Professor of History, Princeton University; Dwaine Williamson, Princeton Town Council; Reverend Robert Moore, Coalition for Peace Action; Zach McCue, staff member for Senator Cory Booker; Imam Saffet Catovic, Green Faith; Jonette Smart, NAACP of Trenton; and Reverend Karen Hernandez-Granzen, Westminster Presbyterian Church.

“Our democracy is in peril,” said David Moriah, Lawrence Citizen Activists. “We have a president who is using the power of his office for his personal and political gain. Around the world we see people taking to the streets to guard their freedoms. It’s time for Americans to do the same. This is the end game for our democracy. We need all hands on deck.”

Activists will use #NotAboveTheLaw to engage communities on social media. Information about other events can be found at www.impeach.org.

“We deserve to be proud of our presidency again,” said Nadine Stern, STAND Central New Jersey. “Asking and requiring foreign governments to interfere in our election process is clearly an impeachable offense. President Trump continues to treat the presidency as his opportunity for personal gain. The evidence of corruption is pervasive. We must stand up for America and impeach and remove this president to restore the world’s respect for the United States.”

Hinds Plaza is located in front of the at Princeton Public Library, 63 Witherspoon St., Princeton. For more information regarding the Princeton rally, visit https://act.moveon.org/event/impeach-and-remove-attend/125742/
