Monmouth Mobile Home Park will treat 25 South Brunswick children in need to a shopping spree at Target on Dec. 15.

“We leave it completely up to the schools to identify the children; they give them the invitation we made and they RSVP to us,” said Daniel Mandell, manager of Monmouth Mobile Home Park, which also recently sponsored the Arthur A. Roedel Jr. Golf Classic to benefit the American Cancer Society. “We will meet all the children at Target at 8:30 a.m. and also provide breakfast for them and their parents.”

Afterward, at 9 a.m., they let the children, all accompanied by one adult, loose in the store, according to information provided by Starkart Advertising. They have approximately an hour to pick out whatever they want. Each child gets $175 to spend.

“It’s a really special event. Families going through difficult times often struggle around the holidays and this is always a highlight for them,” Mandell said in the statement. “The children are always appreciative and usually not only buy gifts for themselves, but will often buy gifts for their siblings.”

The staff at Monmouth Mobile Home Park in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick are active members in township activities, including a Trenton Thunder baseball game outing, a tree lighting, menorah lighting, annual resident holiday party, Easter egg hunt, end of summer ice cream truck and a community yard sale, according to the statement.

“Monmouth Mobile Home Park’s goal is to not only create somewhere to live, but to build a place residents can call home,” Mandell said in the statement.
