Princeton Councilwoman Leticia Fraga joined the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) educational fund, municipal policymakers and leaders in finance from throughout the country for the NALEO National Policy Institute on Public Finance Management and Bonds in Phoenix from Dec. 6-7.
The convening provided Fraga and other Latino policymakers with the opportunity to enhance their understanding of municipal budgets, revenue resources, financial forecasting and municipal bonds. Over two-days, Fraga addressed ways to initiate, advocate and mobilize in favor of effective public finance management.
“Attending NALEO’s Policy Institute on Public Finance was an empowering experience,” Fraga said. “It afforded me the opportunity to strengthen my knowledge of local government budgets and finance issues in order to best allocate funds to meet the needs of our community.”
During the institute, Fraga networked with other Latino leaders, strengthened financial leadership skills and exchanged ideas on effective fiscal decisions that benefit communities in ways that go beyond the life of political terms. Topics discussed during the convening included:
- A full Fund Public Officials as Fudiciaries;
- Budget and Local Government Revenue Sources;
- Financial Forecasting;
- Municipal Bonds.
