Parking on certain streets in East Brunswick limited due to commuter overflow

Drivers circle around the Market Yard parking lot around 8pm on June 3 looking for an available spot to park their car.

EAST BRUNSWICK–The Township Council adopted an ordinance authorizing a time limit for parking on Branco Place, Daniel Place and Pine Ridge Drive.

A time limit for parking will be placed for both sides of each street from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except Sundays and holidays, according to the council agenda for the Dec. 9 meeting.

“This [ordinance] is to limit the time of parking on Branco Place, Daniel Place and Pine Ridge Drive. The residents have requested it due to the fact that our commuters are parking in that vicinity, so we are going to limit the maximum time to 120 minutes on those particular roads [for] the entire length,” Business Administrator Joseph Criscuolo said.

Criscuolo said this ordinance will help make sure that for residents who live in that area, quality of life will not be affected because people are parking on these streets and walking to the bus stop on Route 18.

“We do provide very nice commodities at our parking deck where they can be parking and not interfering with our residents’ [parking spaces],” Criscuolo said.

This ordinance will take effect 20 days after its final passage, adoption and publication, which was dated Dec. 9.
