The Middletown North High School ice hockey team’s offense continued to stay red hot against the Freehold Borough/Raritan/Colts Neck co-op squad on Dec. 13 at Howell Ice Arena.

Junior Jon Miranda was a big reason why Middletown North continued to roll.

He recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Lions to a 4-1 victory over Freehold Borough/Raritan/Colts Neck.

“It was a pretty good feeling cool feeling,” Miranda said. “Got two goals in the first period and then buried the third one in the second period.”

Sophomore Zach Brady scored his second goal of the season for the Lions in the victory.

Middletown North has scored 18 goals in its last four games. The Lions scored eight times in their victory over Jackson Memorial High School on Dec. 12.

Senior goalie Matt Corella had 18 saves in net for the Lions.

Senior Joe Barone scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season for the only Freehold Borough/Raritan/Colts Neck score of the contest.

Sophomore goalie Anthony Guglieri had a game-high 23 saves in net for the co-op team.

Middletown North improved to 3-1-1 to start the season, while Freehold Borough/Raritan/Colts Neck fell to 2-3.
